The wind gushed, cold with winter’s kiss, biting her exposed cheeks. She had learned her lesson from the previous night and bundled up in a coat and scarf, she even put a second pair of socks on before taking this trip. That didn’t mean she couldn’t have gone a step further. Charcoal ear flattened against her black locks in an effort to hide from the bitter air. With the signs of a cold still clinging to her lungs, each breath she took was shard and crisp, raspy on its way down, this escapade may not have been the best of ideas.
Calm, relaxing swirls of blues, greens and whites constantly crashed against the sand a few feet in front of her, taking as many soldiers to the dark depths of the ocean as it retreated. A never-ending battle between water and earth raged on the shore, like her crazed thoughts that changed to a mere hum within the past ten hours. The silence was peaceful, only the sound of the waves protruded in her mind. Relaxed, she dragged the toe of her shoe across the sand. Playful, like a child, the shoe was not enough. Nori searched for a stick, any length would do and when she found it, began to draw stick pictures in the sand.

Happy to have gotten some fresh air, Nori finished the last of her picture, a rabbit. Nothing fancy, she lacked in the art department, just a simple round body with tall ears. It was quite distorted looking. Carefully, she stepped closer to the ocean and whipped the stick into the water. A content smile and she was headed back to her temporary home.
